The EYCW is a 6-week-long summer enrichment experience for elementary-aged school children. Designed to promote the preservation of cultural heritage among the children of Ethiopian immigrants living in the United States, the EYCW offers workshops on: Amharic language and cultural immersion.
In the short term, the EYCW promotes: Amharic language development and critical thinking skills among students during the “summer melt” period between academic terms.
In the long term, the EYCW helps second and third generation Ethiopian-Americans maintain ties to their heritage culture.
While the program curriculum is designed for children ages 6-9 in mind, all potty-trained children 12 and under are eligible for participation.
